Met by a Mom for a Picky Eater

Sometimes the best inventions are born out of necessity. Founder Nancy Yen came up with the idea for a hot and cold bento box when her son started kindergarten. He had trouble eating lunch at school and was often hungry and grumpy while packing. Realizing that he preferred hot appetizers over sandwiches, he began mulling over the concept of a kid-friendly bento box that could house a hot entree and fruits and vegetables all in one place.

Double Insulation Technology

OmieBox uses two types of insulation to store hot and cold food together. At the heart of the design is a powerful vacuum insulated thermos. The two walls are made of stainless steel and air is sucked between them so heat cannot escape. It can keep food hot for up to 6 hours, perfect for hot lunches. Food is kept cool thanks to OmieBox's double-walled, air-insulated tray. Air is an excellent insulator (think styrofoam or double-pane windows – both use weather insulation).
